Consumer prices in Italy in April 2019 increased by 1.1%

Consumer prices in Italy in April 2019 by national standards (СPI) compared to April 2018 increased by 1.1% after rising by 1% in March, show the final data of the statistical agency Istat.

Compared to March of this year, prices have increased by 0.2%. Dynamics of indicators coincided with preliminary data.

Acceleration of inflation is connected with the dynamics of prices for transport and tourist services, notes Istat. At the same time, the rise in energy prices slowed down.

Consumer price growth excluding such volatile factors as energy, food and alcohol prices accelerated to 0.6% after 0.4% in March.

Food prices increased by 0.4% in annual terms and decreased by 0.4% for the month. The cost of alcoholic beverages and tobacco products rose by 2.4% over the year and decreased by 0.1% in April.

Clothes and shoes rose by 0.2% year on year and did not change over the month. Expenditures on transportation increased by 2.6% and 1.7%, respectively.

Consumer prices in Italy, calculated according to the standards of the European Union (HICP), grew by 1.1% in annual terms and by 0.5% per month.
