Wine overtook strong drinks in terms of production growth
The growth rate of wine production in Russia this year is higher than in the production of spirits. This is evidenced by the data of the National Union of Consumer Protection for 7 months of this year and July.
According to Interfax, citing Union information, the production of vodka in January-July amounted to 42.3 million decalitres (dal), which is 0.2% more than in the corresponding period last year. In July, this indicator decreased by 2.7%, to 6.2 million decaliters.
Cognac enterprises produced 4.5 million decalitres of products in 7 months, increasing production by 0.6%. In July, an increase of 6.5% was noted, up to 689.2 thousand decaliters.
At the same time, the production of so-called still wines in January-July increased by 4.3%, to 17.6 million decaliters, in July compared with July last year – by 2.8%, to 2.9 million decaliters.
In the champagne and sparkling wine market, the growth rate is even higher. In January-July, their production increased by 11.2%, to 5.3 million decalitres, in July – by 20.9%, to 954.3 thousand decalitres.
“In January-July, wine drinks produced without the addition of ethyl alcohol produced 14.3 million decaliters (an increase of 18.8%), in July – 2.4 million decalitres (an increase of 26.4%),” they said in the Union.
It should be noted that alcohol plants produced 26.5 million decaliters of ethyl alcohol over 7 months, which is 1.5% less than in the same period last year. In July, production fell by 22.8%, to 2.7 million decaliters
