The Golitsynsky Festival

Dear Colleagues,

A round table on the problems of the industry, a wine salon, the awarding of the Golden Lion tasting contest — all these events constituted the program of the Golitsyn Festival of Russian Wines, whose general partner was the Karusel Trading Network

was opened by a round table on the topic “Wines of a geographical name – the path to the consumer”, where wine industry experts, representatives of relevant government agencies, wine-making Associations and Unions, distribution and HoReCa discussed issues related to the development of the industry: stimulating demand for domestic wines, improving mechanisms of the commodity chain, ways to create consumer loyalty and much more. In his opening remarks, Sergey Pavlov, Marketing Director of the Karusel TS, emphasized the network’s interest in high-quality Russian wines, the need for open and trustful relations between retail and winemakers. Igor Bukharov, President of the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers of Russia, pointed out that restaurateurs are not sufficiently informed about Russian wine, while the famous Crimean winemaker Valery Zakharyin voiced the idea that Russians themselves must learn to love and respect their wine. The Deputy Head of the Department of Viticulture, Winemaking and Tobacco Products Marina Sagarsas made a welcoming speech from the Ministry of Agriculture. The independent wine expert Dmitry Fedotov, the project manager of the WineRetail Alexander Stavtsev, the famous restaurateur of St. Petersburg Kirill Ziminov, the investor of ZMV Koktebel Elena Yakubchik, the director for development of the winery Yubileinaya Sergey Nevsky, the chairman of the board of ANO ROSTINO Evgeny Fedorov, spoke Vyacheslav Merkulov, manager of Southern Wine Company; Valery Loginov, head of the Grafskaya Balka Manor project. The organizer of the Festival, the head of KITMEDIA, Yury Yudich, acted as the moderator of the Round Table.

The Festival was completed by the awarding ceremony for the winners of the Golden Lion contest, which traditionally occupies a serious place in the Festival program. The jury, represented by major experts of the Russian wine industry, gathered the day before, in St. Petersburg, where the winners were determined during the blind tasting. The jury consisted of: Kirill Burlutsky, Irina Mandrik, Norbert Clenkhart, Dmitry Fedotov, Ksenia Kovchina, Sergey Dubovik, Alexander Kasatkin, Yuri Yudich, Elena Rudova and Igor Sharbatov.

The awards were given immediately in six nominations, and this year the winners of the Golden Lions are:

– In the nomination “The best sparkling wine” Sharma “of the Golitsyn Festival” Myskhako Cuvee “, Myskhako;

– In the nomination “The Best Russian Cognac” of the Golitsyn Festival – “Peter the Great”, Kizlyar Cognac Factory;

– In the nomination “The best dessert wine” of the Golitsyn Festival – “White Muscat of the Red Stone”, Massandra

Pleasant news for winners in several categories was a special prize from the General Partner. The certificate for entry into the assortment matrix, which was presented by Sergey Pavlov, Director of the Marketing Department of the FCS Karusel, was awarded to the winners

– In the nomination “The Best Red Wine” of the Golitsyn Festival – “Meganom Select”, Sun Valley;

– In the nomination “Best White Wine” of the Golitsyn Festival – “Cru Lermont Riesling”, Fanagoria;

– In the nomination “The Best Sparkling Wine“ Classic ”of the Golitsyn Festival -“ PINO GRI MILLEZIM ”, New World;

Despite the frosty December day, the Golitsyn Festival ended in a warm, friendly atmosphere. The St. Petersburg public warmly welcomed the winemakers, the professionals established business contacts, and the wine lovers replenished their collection of tastes and impressions.
