International competition of wine and alcoholic beverages will be held in Tbilisi for the first time
The international competition-tasting of wines and alcoholic beverages “Georgia is the birthplace of wine” will be held for the first time in Tbilisi on November 7-9. The newspaper “Sakartvelos Republic” writes about this.
The event is organized by the Union of Oenologists of Georgia. The project is being implemented with the support of the National Wine Agency, the Association of Georgian Wines and others. The competition is intended to demonstrate the potential of Georgian wine production and support it in world markets.
Special guests of the event will be world-renowned wine experts, cavists and sommeliers. The competition will be attended by the Director General of the International Organization of Viticulture and Wine (OIV), Jean-Marie Oran.
The event will be covered by foreign media. They will also talk about the competition in a new documentary film about Georgian wines. Moreover, the wines that are recognized as the best at the competition in Tbilisi will be written by the popular American magazine Wine Spectator.
Five categories of wines are allowed to participate in the competition: white still wines, kvevri wines; rosé and red still wines; white, rose and red sparkling wines; dessert, flavored wines; as well as five types of alcoholic beverages: brandy, brandy, vodka, balsam, liquor.
Companies wishing to participate in the contest “Georgia is the birthplace of wine” must submit an application to the Union of Oenologists of Georgia before November 3.
