Jury’s opinion about Contest:
Wine-Makers about wine:Mr. Nikolai Mehuzla (Russia), Professor, Doctor of Technical Sciences:
“The Contest was perfectly organized, the evaluation methods eliminated subjectiviness, and none of the commissions were overloaded with the number of samples (maximum 20 samples)”.
“In 2003 the Contest was marked by the increase of samples number and high level of tasters’ professionalism. The competitivness among wines and spirits was very strong, which increased the value of the medals. We evaluated 67 samples of white wines including 28 samples of Chardonnay, and the white wine, awarded gold medal, was really merited it. Gheorghii Arpentin mentioned one detail: “Among the young wines represented the red ones had the higher quality than the white wines. The young red wines of 2002 gave the tasters the intensive bouquet and taste”.
“Moldovan wine-makers represented a whole range of excellent drinks. I am sure that the quality of the samples in the category – Divins (Brandy), won gold medals at the Contest, practically did not differ too much from Grand Prix winner. I also evaluated them very high. All of them including Prezident (aged 40 years) by Barza Alba S.A., Stefan Voda (aged 25 years) by Calarasi-Divin S.A. and Chisinau (aged 10 years) by Aroma S.A. are worthy of great praise. These divins have harmonious and soft taste”.
“All the samples represented stood out rare “health” and low level of oxidation”.
“It was the first time I attended the Contest, which was held in your country. It was a great pleasure for me to find out that there were a lot of samples of high quality, participated in the Contest. Brightness, saturation and purity of shades. I evaluated very high a great number of samples, which was the evidence that the product was worthy to be on the pages of the prestigious world edition. This is very important to provide Russian consumers with the information, and our newspaper must do it. Many Russian enterpreners have been investig their money in Moldovan wine-making industry, but they would do more if it were not bureaucratic barriers”.
Mr. Gheorghii Cozub, Honoured Wine-Maker of RM and France, Director of Imperial-Vin company :
“We produce our wine Rkatiteli from the grape, grown at the unique area (Tighech Codri), that suits very much to make white wines. As a result, bright, fruit-flower fragrance of the wine is added by pleasant fresh taste with various fruit nuances. Aftertaste is pleasant, long and original. The colour of the wine is smart and sparkling, which connoisseurs like very much”.
Mr. Oleg Tampei, Chief Technologist of Milestii Mici winery:
“Codru (Grand Prix) is the wine with saturated tones of maturity in the fragnance, the taste has noble aftertaste of charry stone and cream. Very soft and harmonic tones. Strong aftertaste. Codru 1987 is complitely in accordance with its high status”.
Ms. Elisabeth Breahna, Chief Technologist of Vitis-Hinceshti:
“Rosu de Hincesti vintage wine is made of the grape from Central Area of Moldova. Content: Cabernet, Merlot, Pinot Noir grapes varietis, the ratio of that is a professional secret. Red dry wine has rich red colour, original fragnance, velvety taste.
