Moldova becomes member of the OriGIn association
The National Vine and Wine Office has become member of the Organization for an International Geographical Indications Network, headquartered in Geneva.
NVWO Director Gheorghe Arpentin said that being member of the OriGIn, Moldova will get access to the best international practice in this field.
“Joining this platform, we will be abreast of all the changes in legislatures of countries we are exporting our wines to with Protected Geographical Indications. The OriGIn is also an efficient instrument in combating the falsified products with PGI on foreign markets”, he said.
The OriGIn is a strong mouthpiece of almost 500 producers of goods with GPI from 40 countries. Along with the NVWO, the following wine producers with GPI jointed the OriGIn: “Valul lui Traian”, “Codru”, “Stefan Voda” and “Divin”.
Specialists say that the NVWO will now have more instruments for supporting the quality and reputation of the Wines of Moldova with the Protected Geographical Indications.
It is also important that Moldovan wines with GPI will get more visibility, as the OriGIn is promoting interests of its members at international forums: the World Trade Organization, the European Union, the World Intellectual Property Organization and others.
