Moldovan winemakers have been highly appreciated
The number of distinctions that Moldovan wines have benefited from could be even higher if we consider that not all producers presented the data requested by the National Bureau of Wine and Wine. Leaders on the number of medals are Fautor, Purcari and Chateau Vartely. Among the international competitions in which the products of Moldovan winemakers have been highly appreciated are the Golden Piston, Romania, Mundus Vini Spring Tasting and Berliner Wien Trophy, both in Germany, Concours International of Lyon, France, London Wine Competition and many others. 100 medals were won at the Black Sea Region Wines & Spirits Contest, organized in Chisinau under the patronage of the International Organization of Vine and Wine.
Participation in international and local competitions was sponsored by the National Bureau of Wine and Wine and the Moldova Competitiveness Improvement Project, funded by USAID and the Swedish Embassy.
In 2017, the success of Moldovan winemakers was reconfirmed with 382 medals.
