Ministry of Agriculture will work out options for how to decorate the labels of wine
In the near future, the Ministry of Agriculture will work out options for how to decorate the labels of wine made in Russia from domestic grapes.
As stated by Deputy Minister Oksana Lut, the authorities want to create visual differences between Russian wines made from Russian grapes and wine materials, and products from imported wine materials.
“Now it’s really difficult for the consumer to distinguish such products when he looks at the label,” Oksana Lut said. She clarified that wine, on the label of which there is no mention of the origin of wine materials and the use of foreign raw materials, is not necessarily bad, but “the consumer must understand what he pays for.”
Formulations are discussed with industry representatives. Proposals are planned to be prepared within a month. Also, the idea is being worked out to bring Russian wine to the first lines in the menu of bars and restaurants.
– In principle, at any point of public catering abroad, the wine of the country in which you are located always always goes abroad. In our opinion, this initiative is timely, but it is necessary to provide some reasonable transitional period so that it would be interesting for both producers and points that sell wine, – said Oksana Lut.
