Thousands of people have gulped a bunch of wine in honor in the city of Haro

Thousands of people have gulped a bunch of wine in honor in the city of Haro, Spain. People splashed with drinks thrown out of bottles, buckets, damages or even water guns. The festival is organized annually.

Among the participants were both Spaniards and tourists who came to Haro specifically to attend the festival:

“We just sprinkle with wine, we have to wear white jerseys, and in the end they are purple.”

“It’s really fun, I’m very wet.”

White shirts are mandatory for those who participate in the common swing. This unusual habit began in the Middle Ages when two villages waged war for decades to control the hills covered by vineyards.

Nowadays, however, the Spaniards no longer care about the conflict of five centuries ago, just the fun.
